The Kubota story began in 1890 when an ambitious 19 year old man by the name of Gonshiro Kubota established a metal casting business in Osaka, Japan. Even from a young age, his vision was clear. He was determined to create quality products that improved the lives of his customers, their communities and were environmentally-friendly. These values have guided Kubota to where we are today and represent what we stand for.

In 1922, Kubota began producing its own oil-based engines for agriculture and industrial applications. Kubota were ahead of their time, pioneering technologies that promoted energy saving, improved fuel efficiency and increased the durability and longevity of their products. To this day, Kubota are the world leading manufacturers of compact engines, dedicated to the research of advanced technologies that set the benchmark for the industry.

About Kubota New Zealand

Kubota products have been distributed in New Zealand for over 40 years now and have fast become a dominant figure in the market. It all started in the mid 1970’s with Kubota supplying the first L series, L175-L185, and B series tractors into the New Zealand market. This was the start of Kubota’s success in the under 50 horsepower agricultural and grounds care tractor market. 1977 saw the start of the over 50 horsepower tractors being supplied to the New Zealand market with the introduction of the M7000 tractors. From this beginning Kubota has developed its line of tractors, right up to the latest 170 horsepower M7-2 series of tractors.

With the first Kubota excavator, the KH-1, released into the New Zealand market in 1979, Kubota has long been a force to be reckoned with in the mini excavator market. The line has developed over the years, now with the KX series and the U series zero tail swing excavators, into the number one selling mini excavator in the world. Kubota has built on its achievements over the years with the 2006 launch of its flagship KX080, 8-ton compact excavator. With a tight tail swing, excellent visibility, overall stability, outstanding breakout force and amazingly smooth operation this excavator is unmatched in its class and is set to become the benchmark 8 ton machine.

From its Palmerston North Head Office, Kubota New Zealand Limited distributes products throughout New Zealand via their extensive dealer network. Some of whom have been dealers since Kubota’s inception into the New Zealand market. It is in part the reputation of our dealer network that has set Kubota at the top end of the demanding New Zealand tractor, construction and grounds care market.

Over the past few years exciting releases from Kubota have expanded the market and the introduction of the M7-2 series of tractors has moved Kubota to the top end of the 135 to 170 horsepower range with exceptional performance, reliability and comfort.

With a variety of grounds care equipment ranging from the T2090 20 horsepower ride-on lawnmower up to the L5740, 59 horsepower hydrostatic 4WD tractor, Kubota enables its customers to find the perfect unit for their individual application. The range also includes zero turn mowers in both diesel and petrol options, out-front commercial mowers in 28 and 36 horsepower as well as front end loaders and mid mount mowers to fit all ROPS and cab compact tractors.

Our agricultural range spans from the new MX5200 52 horsepower utility tractor up to the top of the range M7-2 170 horsepower tractors. The M series range is fast becoming the flagship range for Kubota, with a diverse range of transmissions as well as bi-speed turn and wet clutch in both cab and ROPS options. All of the agricultural range have Kubota built diesel engines; these tractors perform to their rated horsepower and beyond.

With the release in 2005 of the RTV900 utility vehicle into the New Zealand market, Kubota built on its success with the RTVX1100, with a full cab, air conditioning and heater. The range also now includes the versatile RTVX1140, an easily convertible unit with either two or four-seater options at your fingertips. The RTV500, a new compact petrol machine with the simplicity you have come to love about Kubota as well as the 2019 model, the RTVXG850. With its CVT Plus transmission and a top speed of 65km/hr, the RTVXG850 heads to the top of its class. These are purpose-built machines; using proven tractor technology to make a rough terrain vehicle suitable for a huge variety of applications.

Kubota’s extensive range of Power Centre products throughout its dealer network. With a huge range of environmentally friendly diesel engines from 4.5 to 99 horsepower to cover both the OEM and replacement engine markets in New Zealand as well as diesel generators from 6kVA through to the 30kVA super quiet series. Kubota is the world’s number one selling diesel engine under 100hp.

In previous years Kubota has complemented its brand with the slogan “Keeps on going” which represents its reputation for being the most reliable and durable products in the world. There have been many stories of owners, who talk about their 20-year-old Kubota that still starts first go.

Now, Kubota Corporation has changed the corporate slogan to Kubota “For Earth, For Life”, meaning, “While protecting the earth’s beautiful environment, Kubota continues to support affluent lifestyles of people”.
